On 6 November, Hangar’s Sala Ricson hosted the second opening of the AION programme, which sought to add a new conceptual layer to the collaborative research process, following the initial research, the autoethnography and joint work of the tandems, and the Cabinet of Errors and Uncertainties. <\/p>\n\n
The session began with the talk “Creativity as indiscipline”<\/em> by Agust\u00ed Nieto-Gal\u00e1n, professor of History of Science and researcher “ICREA Acad\u00e8mia” (2009, 2018, 2023) at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), who has written extensively on the history of science in the eighteenth and twentieth centuries, the urban history of science and the historical analysis of the relations between science and politics in the twentieth century. He has recently published a collective volume on the construction of ignorance (agnotology) in twentieth-century Spain. <\/p>\n\n In his speech, Nieto-Gal\u00e1n gave examples of theorists who have placed themselves in liminal disciplinary spaces, sometimes ambiguous or rebellious: from Ludwik Fleck’s esoteric and exoteric circles, Thomas Kuhn’s theory of paradigms, or Thomas Gieryn’s concept of Boundary-work <\/em>. During his speech, he also referred to the biologist Rachel Carson and the philosopher Sandra Harding. The talk highlighted those practices and thinkers who have placed themselves at the limits of knowledge; how disciplinary negotiation defines the margins of science; the need to dialogue expert and non-expert knowledge and learn to navigate the boundaries of what is considered right or wrong; the role of activism and resistance as spaces for negotiation and creativity, or the complexity that emerges when disciplines are diluted… <\/p>\n\n Subsequently, a space was opened to think collectively about how to operationalize error and uncertainty, and how both elements can become methodological and creative tools.
