HacTe is part of these networks
The Art, Science, Technology and Society Network (ASTS) is a nationwide network for collaboration between institutions, projects, collectives and individuals from different fields and backgrounds, with common interests and objectives. HacTe has been developing the technical secretariat of the network since 2023 and is therefore a core activity of the association. HacTe is also part of the driving force behind the Catalonia node, together with Hangar, the UOC and the CCCB’s mediation department, promoting meetings and debates between stakeholders working at the intersection of ASTS, the preparation of documentation and reports on the current state of the sector and recommendations for the future.
The S+T+ARTS initiative, promoted by the Directorate-General for Communications, Content and Technology Networks (DG CONNECT) of the European Commission, aims to promote and enable the interaction between technology and the arts in regional development, considering them as catalysts for social, ecological and economic development, and the promotion of creativity and innovation. HacTe, as an S+T+ARTS Regional Centre, participates in the ‘S+T+ARTS in the City’ project, together with Gluon (Belgium), MEET (Italy), Ars Electronica (Austria), Inova+ (Portugal) and Kersnikova (Slovenia). This consortium won the European Commission’s call ‘Art and the digital: Unleashing creativity for European industry, regions and society’ (2023-2024).
HacTe is a member of the New European Bauhaus (NEB). The initiative of the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, aims to bring together agents from all over Europe to collaborate and develop solutions to the most pressing social challenges. The program emphasizes the importance of a culture of collaboration, creativity and innovation to achieve its goals. In this way, the NEB, connected to the European Green Deal and the ideals of sustainability and inclusion, may lead to a reconsideration of the role of creativity as essential for the success of the European NEB programme. In the words of the Commission itself, the Green Deal is not only an environmental and economic plan, but is part of a new cultural and social paradigm.
