Chemical Ecosystem by Yolanda Uriz, the olfactory work that HacTe and the ACTS Network will show at Sónar+D

From 15 to 17 June, HacTe and the recently created Red ACTS (promoted by the hub itself, the Open University of Catalonia and the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation) will present the olfactory work Chemical Ecosystem by Yolanda Uriz at Sónar+D. The piece exemplifies the potential of the relationships between art, science, technology and society (ACTS) and can be seen in the Project Area exhibition space.

Chemical Ecosystem was the winning work of the NASEVO 20222 grant, promoted by the Ernesto Ventós Foundation within the framework of the ISEA2022 Barcelona and is currently part of the foundation’s work fund. It is a mechanism with sensors that measure certain components of the air and, depending on the results, emits odors and translates the data into certain sounds , seeking balance. The particularity of the work is that it interacts with the ecosystem and the environment that surrounds it at all times: CO2, of the people present in space, etc.

This piece is part of an extensive programme co-designed by HacTe and Sónar+D to promote the interaction between art, science and technology, which also includes an Open Forum and the presentation of the ACTS Network.
