Call for the S+T+ARTS Buen-TEK Prize

The S+T+ARTS Buen-TEK project opens a call for applications for the Buen-TEK Prize:

Purpose of the call

The S+T+ARTS Buen-TEK Award seeks innovative artistic projects that encompass traditional knowledge, indigenous wisdom and concepts of degrowth, and that focus on coexistence in harmony with nature, community and the collective good, offering a new perspective on how art can foster positive change and propose innovative solutions.

Who can apply?

The Prize is aimed at artists who are citizens or permanent residents in the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname and Uruguay.

The prize

  • The S+T+ARTS Buen-TEK Award awards a total of €30,000 (subject to tax), which will be distributed between two and six projects, at the discretion of the jury.
  • The selected projects will be exhibited in an exhibition organized by IMPAKT [Centre for Media Culture] in Utrecht in April 2026, and will benefit from an extensive international dissemination campaign through the S+T+ARTS network in Europe and South America.
  • The winners will be invited to attend in person the awards ceremony and the opening of the exhibition, which will take place within the framework of the IMPAKT Festival.

Court

The Jury of the S+T+ARTS Buen-TEK Award will be made up of internationally recognized experts in the fields of art, science, technology and indigenous knowledge. The jury will include at least two members of the consortium and four representatives of host institutions in South America.

The jury will meet to review the eligible submissions and select two to six projects to be awarded; Among these, the total sum of the prize (30,000 euros) will be distributed. The jury’s decision is final.

The winners will be notified by February 15, 2026, and the official announcement will take place during the awards ceremony in Utrecht.

  • 27 October 2025: Launch of the open call
  • December 22, 2025: Submission deadline
  • 1-15 February 2026: Jury’s evaluation period
  • February 15, 2026 – Notification to winners
  • 8-12 April 2026: Presentation of winners at the awards ceremony during the IMPAKT Festival
  • April 2026 (possible continuity May-June): Exhibition and/or presentation at IMPAKT (Utrecht, Netherlands)
