S+T+ARTS Buen-TEK opens a call for artists who want to be part of its program of 10 cross-artistic residencies that will take place in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
The residency programme calls on artists to develop innovative projects that fuse cutting-edge and traditional technologies with ancestral knowledge, addressing regional ecosystems and fostering a critical, inclusive and sustainable dialogue between the arts, sciences, technologies, innovation and cultural values.
Each residency will last five months and will take place between August 2025 and January 2026 (with a minimum of 4 weeks of face-to-face attendance). The residency programme will have a rich ecosystem that will support the selected artists: European and regional cultural, scientific, technological and academic organisations, translocal experts, local communities and other stakeholders, with the aim of promoting collaboration to work on situated themes.

Submission process
Proposals for the S+T+ARTS Buen-TEK residency program must be submitted through the online application form.
The online application form consists of:
- Online form (with general and administrative information)

- Artistic portfolio (PDF to upload)

- 15 April 2025: Publication of the call
- 24 April 2025, 15:30 CET: Information session
- 6 May 2025, 15:30 CET: Briefing (in Spanish)
- 27 May 2025, 17:00 CET: Deadline for submission of proposals
- June 13, 2025: Selection of the 30 shortlisted artists
- From 25 June to 2 July 2025: Jury day and interviews with the shortlisted artists
- July 7, 2025: Announcement of the winners
- August 2025: Start of the Buen-TEK residency program
What do we offer?
- A scholarship of 20,000.00 EUR.

What are we waiting for?
S+T+ARTS Buen-TEK encourages artists to submit projects that address regional challenges through artistic experimentation and the conceptual framework of Buen Vivir and Lo-TEK. Special consideration will be given to projects that:
- Develop the conceptual framework of Buen-TEK through artistic experimentation.
- Address specific topics proposed by the Twins, linked to regional ecosystems.
- Encourage critical use of local and traditional technologies, such as AI, computational systems, data visualization, etc.
- Learn from ancestral knowledge and use technologies in a way that respects human life and more than human.
Have a practical and situated approach.
Who can apply?
The residencies are open to artists with citizenship or residency in eligible countries in South America (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay). Companies, collectives or artistic associations can also apply.
Applicants must:
- Be a national or permanent resident in one of the eligible countries.
- Have a company, collective or association based in an eligible country.
- Present a valid residence permit or passport.
- Not be affiliated with any organization of the Buen-TEK Consortium or any Twin or related entities.
Applicants cannot receive more than one S+T+ARTS scholarship in 2025.
Results
Results may include:
- Artistic results: Works of art, installations, technological prototypes, community projects.
- Research results: Publications, development of new theoretical frameworks or interdisciplinary research methods.
- Collective practices: New interdisciplinary knowledge, methodologies and emerging disciplines.
The results must be delivered in a format that can be presented publicly.
