The programme for the fourth edition of the Biennal Ciutat i Ciència, which will take place between 18 and 23 November 2025 at the El Born Museum of the History of Barcelona, as the main stage, has already been made public. The Biennial, which is held simultaneously in Barcelona and Madrid, also extends to other spaces in the city such as the Greenhouse in the Parc de la Ciutadella, the Convent de Sant Agustí Civic Centre, the Pompeu Fabra University, the Canòdrom or the Maldà Cinemas.
This initiative of Barcelona City Council focuses on reflecting on how quantum physics has produced a profound transformation of the world within the framework of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology declared by UNESCO. The contents of the Biennial are structured around four conceptual pillars: the revolution of ideas, information as a tool of power, reflection on how technology linked to quantum technology has impacted our perception and society, and the need to inhabit the frontiers of knowledge.
To develop this intersectional space between the arts, sciences, technologies and society, where diverse systems, disciplines, and epistemologies converge, HacTe has been invited to be part of the curatorial team of the program in Barcelona, together with the physicist and journalist Toni Pou and the researcher of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center – National Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS). The proposals specifically dedicated to this ACTS intersection have been the result of a collective effort promoted by the HacTe working group on quantum led by Lydia Sanmartí (ICFO) with representation from the UOC, UPF, UPC, IFAE-BIST, Hangar and the New Art Foundation, in collaboration with other people and entities linked to art, science and technology. such as Tabakalera or the redACTS.
