The redACTS organizes the IV edition of the Open Forum on Arts, Science & Technology that will take place on June 17 in the framework of +RAIN, International Festival of Film and Artificial Intelligence. This meeting is consolidated as a space for transdisciplinary exchange that allows to explore the multiple relationships between the arts, science and technology in a context of knowledge, listening and mutual learning in which to encourage curiosity, conversation and the creation of links and complicities.
In this edition, the forum invites 10 artists, scientists and technologists working in different disciplinary fields to share artistic and scientific research questions. Through short presentations, they will address questions about UV radiation from the sun and its impact on the three-dimensional organization of the genome inside the cell, or how metabolism changes inside the nucleus of cancer cells. We will ask whether humanity is disappearing in the age of datification, while exploring aridity as a metabolic and relational condition of life. We will also inquire into the relationships established with voice technologies and synthetic voices through performance, and the symbolic-affective possibilities of an archive of human residual matter.
During the meeting we will learn more about GRAPA IV, the pilot of the Catalunya node of the ACTS network, which in this edition features Mario Santamaría and his project Zombie Pipelines. This research investigates the complexity of the energy systems through the pipeline layouts in which material flows of different orders are mobilized on a planetary scale.
GRAPA is a program of artistic residencies promoted by the CCCB and Hangar in the framework of theACTS network, which aims to open, accompany and relate creative processes that are located at the intersection of art, science and technology.

Elnaz Ghorbani (Barcelona Supercomputing Centre, BSC-CNS) with the project More Than a Number in which he asks about the emotion, contradiction and lived experience that is lost with big data and high performance computing.
Feli Cabrera López (Efe Ce Ele) (Wetlab Hangar) with the project Application of supercoiling of polymers and bio-polymers in installations and sculptures, a research that proposes to redefine sensitive matter and soft robotics from an artistic perspective.
Huaqian Zhang (independent artist) with the project Thermostats of sensitive experience where she explores what forms of communication and meaning emerge when the image becomes more or less legible.
Jaume Ferrete Vázquez (BAU, Centro Universitario de Artes y Diseño de Barcelona) with the project Alexa, Alexa, Alexa. Technical genealogies and modes of relationship with synthetic voices. in which he investigates through performance.
Lara Campos (Wetlab Hangar) with the project Cuerpo-residual in which she investigates the symbolic-affective possibility of an archive of human residual matter.
Mario Santamaria (redACTS) with the project Tuberías Zombi (Zombie Pipelines ), which explores the pipeline routes in which material flows of different orders are mobilized on a planetary scale.
Paula Fernández Migens (Institute for Research in Biomedicine of Barcelona – IRB) with the project Modelling UV damage in chromatin, which seeks to understand what happens in the moments after genetic damage, before it can lead to more serious processes such as cancer.
Sergi Botella is an artist, cultural producer and manager. He has developed several research and mediation projects with a focus on the care of the material and working conditions of artists. He currently directs Hangar, Center for Artistic Production and Research.
Zoila Babot is Director of Communication and Communities at the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST). D. in Biochemistry and Master in Scientific and Medical Communication, with a professional background in life sciences research and her broad perspective of the R&D ecosystem.
